5 Fun Word of Mouth Marketing Facts We Learned at WOMM-U

Every May hundreds of marketers flock to WOMM-U, the Word of Mouth Marketing Association’s conference in Chicago, IL, where thought leaders share best practices, case studies and valuable chatter about influence. This year the influencers@ team was thrilled to attend WOMM-U and be amongst many incredible industry leaders such as House Party, Mr. Youth, Mom Central and many others. We heard from talented speakers like Paul Adams of Facebook and Kristina Halvorson, CEO of Brain Traffic and the expert in web content. Some serious buzz was circulating around the Raddison in downtown Chi-town about effectively measuring ROI of word of mouth and crafting creative campaigns for awesome brands like Axe and Krispy Kreme. Some highlights and fun facts we picked up during the event include: 50% of people watching TV have a smart device within an arm’s length away No marketing or ad campaign will ever be as successful as talking to your friends Most people have 4-6 independent groups of friends, and information spreads throughout these networks Ways to express the value of WOM: increase revenue, brand perception lifts, media equivalency, cost deflection, performance benchmarks 16% of your fans are actually seeing your post in their Facebook news feed “WOMMA outdid themselves this year,” said influencers@ CEO Spencer Bramson. “Every spring I look forward to coming to my hometown of Chicago to share tips/tricks and learn about new strategies to strengthen our business.” We are proud of our membership with WOMMA and the continued support which they provide us.
